Mat and Three Gen Building were recommended to us by our plumber. As we required extensive remedial works on our backyard plumbing, this meant replacing the patio, retaining walls, and stairs to our pool. We also decided to revamp the front garden, with a new deck, garden bed, fencing and entryway to our home.
The works required careful planning, attention to detail and creative solutions to deal with an elevated front door entry, rounded brick wall and harsh sun exposure. Mat was quick to arrange a site inspection and talked us through all of our options providing a competitive quote. His knowledge of materials and approaches helped us make informed decisions and improved our original design.
Mat and his team worked diligently toward our deadline, were punctual, kept the site tidy and lessened disruption, whenever possible. Problems were met with solutions and additional costs made transparent.
Whilst persistent rain consistently delayed completion, it was a blessing in disguise. With the plumbing in place, no longer did our patio area flood during rain and our undercover area remained dry and useable even during a thunderstorm – we had proof!
Unless we were entertaining, we rarely spent much time outdoors, it was so unappealing. Now our outdoor spaces are attractive and inviting, giving us two extensions to our living space and encouraging us to dine alfresco or enjoy morning coffee on the deck.

We employed Mat for several projects on our property
Firstly he did a completed refurbishment of our en suite. During the project, he uncovered damp in our bedroom external wall which had arisen through a failed joint in the outside cladding. At all times he kept us informed at what was going on and left all decisions to progress up to us. During the bedroom refurbishment, he ensured seals were placed on the room and dehumidifiers were utilised to prevent mold spores spreading. At the end of the day we were really pleased with both the ensuite and the bedroom refurbishment and particularly pleased with the attention to detail.

The next project we employed him on was the replacement of a failed timber retaining wall at the rear of our property. We were eager to retain as much vegetation as possible behind the wall including several mature cascade plants. Whilst undertaking the project Matt discovered rock at fairly high levels which is why the previous retaining wall had failed (not deep enough). Obviously, the replacement became a lot bigger project and a lot harder to undertake. Matt and his team worked extremely hard to break out the rock and place adequate foundations for the new wall. Not only were we pleased with the new wall (which should outlast us now) but we were delighted with the fact that all plants behind the wall were saved in fact three months after the construction you can see no evidence that any work was undertaken.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Matt for any future work (in fact I have already recommended him to a friend doing an ensuite) he really thinks about the work and has great attention to detail which always leaves a good result.
